Program Overview

The Diplôme d’Université Soins infirmiers en médecine d’urgence develops the specialist clinical judgement, technical skills and teamwork required by qualified nurses working in emergency, pre-hospital and resuscitation services. It is particularly suited to registered nurses who want to strengthen the quality of care they provide in hospital emergency departments, SAU, SAMU, SMUR and other acute-care environments.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1

During the Vital Failures module, students examine cardiac arrest, acute circulatory distress, acute respiratory distress, non-traumatic coma and emergency pharmacology. The module also introduces Crew Resource Management—CRM, helping nurses use communication, leadership and team resources effectively during critical situations.

The Medical Emergencies module develops skills in emergency-department organisation and triage, alongside the nursing management of cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological and toxicological emergencies. Students also examine paediatric emergencies, obstetric emergencies, psychological agitation in emergency departments and ethical decision-making in emergency medicine.

The Emergencies and Traumatology module covers trauma assessment, emergency ultrasound localisation, analgesia and sedation, severe-trauma management and orthopaedic immobilisation. Students also prepare for multi-casualty situations before completing both theoretical and practical assessments.
