Positioned in Wahroonga on Sydney's Upper North Shore, Abbotsleigh Senior School is an autonomous Anglican early learning, primary and secondary day and boarding school for girls in New South Wales, Australia. Located on Sydney's lower north shore, the school was founded in 1885 and presently serves about 1,400 students, including 170 boarders from Years 7 through 12. New classrooms were opened in 1939, but the waiting list persisted. As more students continued their education at universities and student achievements improved, the school's reputation grew.
Since its founding in 1885 in a terrace house in north Sydney by Miss Marian Clarke, Abbotsleigh has proudly led the way in educating girls. The idea of teaching "the whole girl," as advocated by Marian Clarke, is still relevant today. Their Senior College students are urged to welcome their independence and the additional duties that come with being mature, well-mannered young ladies. Embracing personal wellbeing, advocating for positive results through their voice, and viewing obstacles as chances for development are some of the qualities that define their girls. The girls at Abbotsleigh Senior School are encouraged to be resilient and self-sufficient in a supportive atmosphere.
