The Glenelg School was formed in 2010 by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), and a significant and beneficial shift is taking place within the school in 2016-17. Inspectors uncovered a single school that had been divided into two competing sections, each in charge of the Elementary and Middle/High divisions of the school, early in 2013. The Middle/High School component of the school opened a year later, in 2011, and was unhelpfully built independently, metres away, and separated by a wall, contributing to the justification for the dual Head/Principal arrangement. The capacity of a single school to define shared goals was heavily influenced by the school's leadership division.

The ADNOC School under-9 football team won against Al-Yasmina School Khalid Al Nuaimi, grade 10 student in ADNOC School Sas Al Nakhl, came first place in junior category UAE tour challenge ADNOC School, Sas Al Nakhl - Elementary, who won the Pile it Up Challenge, winning a wonderful prize of AED 12,000! A In total, more than 250 schools in Abu Dhabi participated and returned over 50,000 single-use water bottles for recycling.
