School History & Details

Akeley Wood School has a rich history that spans over 80 years. It was established in 1935 as a co-educational day school in the picturesque Buckinghamshire countryside. Initially, the school was named Hillcrest School.  However, as the years went by, it grew in both size and reputation. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Akeley Wood School established itself as one of the leading independent schools in the region, with a strong academic reputation and a commitment to providing an all-round education for its students. It expanded its facilities, added new programs, and attracted more students from both the local area and beyond. In the decades since then, Akeley Wood School has continued to grow and evolve, while staying true to its core values of academic excellence, individuality, and community. Today, it is a thriving school with a diverse student body, world-class facilities, and a commitment to helping every student reach their full potential.
