The college was originally founded in Bankstown, where classes began with 88 students K–3 in 1998, leading to rapid growth. By 2011, the Bankstown campus had reached its full capacity with 288 students (K–6). In 2002, the College expanded with the opening of the Liverpool Campus, accommodating 168 students. Secondary classes started with Year 7 and extended to Year 12 in 2007. The Liverpool Campus, situated in the heart of Liverpool City, caters to K–12 students, with a total of 600 primary and secondary students. On December 4, 2014, SBS aired a special report on Al Amanah College, focusing on a program aimed at preventing radicalization. School captain Mohamad Zahab expressed concerns about the violence depicted in the media and news, stating that the true message and beliefs of Islam have been misrepresented. The Principal also emphasized the importance of instilling a strong sense of identity in the young Muslim students, highlighting their Australian nationality alongside their Islamic faith.
