Notably, the school features a heritage-listed building designed by architect Robert Ferguson, characterized by its picturesque timber construction and distinctive ventilation spires, reflecting the architectural style of the late 19th century.  In 1917, the school community erected a sandstone obelisk war memorial to honor former students who served and sacrificed their lives during World War I, underscoring the school’s commitment to commemorating its alumni’s contributions.  By 1891, Albert State School had become the largest co-educational school in Queensland, with an enrollment of 611 students, highlighting its significant role in the region’s educational development.  These accomplishments reflect the school’s dedication to preserving its historical legacy and fostering a strong sense of community among students and residents alike.
