This school was established in 1988 under the name of American International School (AIS). Originally it educated students of grades 1-5. In 1990 it expanded to a purpose-built campus and Grade 8. It was accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) in 1994. 4 years later in 1998 the school opened its Al Bustan Campus. The expansion of the school continued and in 2007 there was a new Middle School/High School campus established. It was accredited again by NEASC in 2021 and now teaches more than 2,200 students enrolled in KG through to Grade 12.
