The inception of the American School of Kuwait (ASK) dates back more than half a century when a collective of American parents united with a shared vision to establish an educational institution that faithfully mirrored the American schooling system. ASK's narrative encapsulates a vibrant tapestry woven with resilience, resolute leadership, and the unwavering commitment of all those who have been part of the organization, past and present, to furnish our students with the utmost standards of American education in Kuwait.
With the dawn of September 1964, the American School of Kuwait joyfully embraced its inaugural cohort of seventy-five students, marking the commencement of its first official academic term under the moniker of the "International School of Kuwait." Situated within a capacious villa nestled in the Dasman Area of Sharq, the institution swiftly embarked on crafting a comprehensive curriculum spanning all grades, from kindergarten to twelfth grade. These pioneering students hailed from diverse nations, encompassing not only the United States but also Kuwait itself. At its inception, the school boasted a dedicated faculty comprising sixteen full-time educators and three part-time instructors.
The American School of Kuwait upholds a set of core values that guide our educational approach. These values include fostering integrity, respect, inclusivity, and a passion for lifelong learning, empowering students to thrive as global citizens within our diverse community.
