School History & Details

Australian International Academy is a network of Islamic educational institutions located across Australia. It was established as the first Muslim college in the country, originally named King Khalid Islamic College in honor of Khalid bin Abdulaziz al Saud. The academy comprises six campuses that provide both the Australian National Curriculum and the International Baccalaureate. The Primary Campus, which serves students from Prep to Grade 5, is situated in Coburg, while the Secondary Campus caters to Grades 6 through Year 12 in North Coburg. Additionally, a new campus in Caroline Springs began operations at the start of 2014. Notably, the Australian International Academy holds the distinction of being the first and only Muslim institution in the southern hemisphere to offer all three International Baccalaureate programmes.

School Achievements

Achievements

The curriculum provided by the academy is thoughtfully designed to integrate both secular and Islamic education. Students are encouraged to take pride in their Islamic identity while embracing their status as Australian Muslims. In addition to the Holy Quran and Languages Other Than English (LOTE), all other subjects are instructed in English. Arabic Language and Religious Studies are included at every educational level. The frequency of lessons varies slightly from Preparatory classes to Secondary levels. Additional modern languages may be offered based on student interest and enrollment numbers. By enrolling in the Australian International Academy, students experience growth in both their academic and spiritual journeys, as well as an enhancement of their self-esteem, all within a nurturing educational and Islamic framework. While the academy is open to students from various non-Islamic backgrounds, there are specific requirements that both students and staff must adhere to in order to be part of the Islamic College.
