Bedourie, situated on the outskirts of the Simpson Desert, is positioned 200 km to the north of the renowned town of Birdsville, 500 km to the south of Mt Isa, and 1600 km to the west of Brisbane. Serving as the administrative hub for the Diamantina Shire, the town boasts a population of approximately 120 residents. The current school facility was established in 1967, replacing the Shire Hall where classes were previously conducted. This hall now serves as the Shire Office. The school currently accommodates students from Preparatory Year to Year 6. Upon completing their primary education, most students transition to boarding schools, while some opt for home-based learning through Distance Education.
