Bella Bella Community School (BBCS) serves both Heiltsuk and non-Heiltsuk students from Nursery to Grade 12. It is accredited as a BC Ministry of Education Independent School and is certified by the First Nations School Association. The Bella Bella Community School first welcomed students in September 1977.

Bella Bella Community School's academic achievements include land-based education through the Heiltsuk Language and Culture program and SEAS (Supporting Emerging Aboriginal Stewards). This objective is to bring together school staff, mentors, community organizations, and academic stakeholders to provide opportunities for students to learn about and directly experience the lands, waters, and harvest cycles of their traditional Hazaqv territories.
