Bentleigh Secondary College was established in 1969 and since then has always paid a great deal of attention towards helping students get the best out of their potentials while also challenging themselves continuously. The school believes that every student should try to be the best possible version of themselves. The expectations for both the school administration and the teaching staff are always said to be very high so that the deliverables for the students are excellent and satisfactory. Establishing a positive relation between school and students has always been a core value for the school. Because of its relentless pursuit of excellence, the school has been able to build a community of over 1000 students in the span of over 50 years of its existence.

VCE Excellence: The Class of 2024 achieved outstanding VCE results, with numerous students recognized as ‘Bentonian Scholars’ for their academic excellence. These achievements reflect the collaborative efforts of students and teaching staff.  Gifted and Talented Program: The college offers a Gifted and Talented Program, grouping high-achieving students based on standardized test results. This program fosters advanced learning in subjects like English, Mathematics, and Science.

Performing Arts: Bentleigh Secondary College boasts a robust performing arts program, including music, drama, and dance. The school has multiple bands—such as the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Jazz Bands—and hosts annual productions like “Chicago: A Musical Vaudeville.”  Sports and Leadership: The college’s Sports Academy nurtures athletic talent, while student leadership is promoted through roles like school captains and participation in events such as the St. Leonard’s Leadership Conference.  Community Engagement: Events like International Women’s Day are celebrated, emphasizing the contributions of women in science and fostering a culture of inclusivity and empowerment.

Steph Catley: A distinguished alumna, Steph Catley is a professional soccer player who began her journey at Bentleigh Secondary College in 2007. She has become a prominent figure in Australian women’s soccer.  Nick Staikos: An Australian politician, Nick Staikos has been a member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly since 2014, representing the Bentleigh electorate. He has held positions such as Minister for Consumer Affairs and Minister for Local Government.  Rob Hudson: Serving from 2002 to 2010, Rob Hudson was a member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly for the Bentleigh electorate. Before his political career, he was involved in social services and policy advising.
