Situated in Gimuy Wallubarra Yidinji land, in the southern suburbs of Cairns, lies Bentley Park College, a State P-12 institution. The name and logo of the college are inspired by an old farming property that can be seen from the campus. Originally intended to serve as a primary school only in the Centenary Park area, Edmonton State School was to be named after the surrounding tiny town. In Term 4 of 1997, it began as a preschool. In 1998, it became a P–7 school and changed its name to Bentley Park State School. Bentley Park eventually replaced the previous name of Centenary Park for the suburb. The old "Middle School" (Years 6-9), "Senior School" (Years 10–12), and "Junior School" (Years P–5) amalgamated into two sectors in 2011: P–6 and 7–12. These sectors were subsequently renamed the Primary Sector and Secondary Sector.
The Gimuy Walubarra Yidinji Bama, or people, are recognised by Bentley Park College as the Traditional Owners of the Bulmba, or place, on which the college is situated. Students are inspired by the motto and mission of "Aspire Learn Achieve" and succeed via high-quality instruction and learning. Respect, Responsibility, and Resilience are passionately upheld, and diversity is celebrated.
