Birrong Girls High School was established in 1957 as a culturally diverse school that welcomes female students from different parts of the country to pursue academic excellence while learning how to become a good human being. The community of the school is extremely strong in committed towards creating a safe space for students where they can learn and be happy. The school provides education to students from grade 7 to grade 12. Other than academics, the school focuses on technology, sports, creativity and a lot of other aspects of learning in school. The school's history shows that it has been extremely successful in different competitions about art and other extracurricular activities such as debating, drama and environment protection.

In 2023, Birrong Girls High School continued its tradition of academic excellence: Six students were named in the HSC Distinguished Achievers List for consistent top-band performances across all subjects. The school’s Dux achieved an ATAR of 92.55, with other students attaining ATARs over 90. Band 6 results were recorded in subjects including Advanced English, Advanced Mathematics, Mathematics Standard 2, Business Studies, Modern History, Visual Arts, Legal Studies, History Extension, and Biology. These accomplishments reflect the dedication of both students and teachers in striving for academic success.

Birrong Girls High School places a strong emphasis on holistic education, encouraging students to engage in various extracurricular and community activities: Student Leadership and Service: The Student Representative Council (SRC), prefects, and various student teams led initiatives such as fundraising for AusRelief, raising over $5,000 through a bake sale, and participating in the Refugee Ration Challenge, contributing over $8,000. Community Engagement: Students organized events to support local groups like The Make A Difference (MAD) Network, providing clothing to the homeless and disadvantaged in Sydney. Global Citizenship: The school continued its support for a sponsor child named Lightness and assembled Zonta birthing kits for distribution in developing countries. Recognition and Awards: Students received accolades such as the Zonta Citizenship Award, ABCN scholarships, and the Australian Olympic Changemaker Award.
