Blackfriars Priory School is an independent Catholic school exclusively for boys that provides education to students from prep to year 12. The school currently has a family of over 750 students and has been providing education to students since 1953. The school believes in providing an overall education to students that make them academically, physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually capable of achieving great things in life. It is the only school in Australia that has been founded by the Dominican friars.

    • Because of the heterogeneous environment of the school and the fact that students from more than 20 countries study in the school, it provides a very versatile and dynamic environment. Students are always motivated to promote individual and social well-being while also developing a great sense of resilience and empathy.

High ATAR Scores: In 2017, several graduates achieved ATARs of 90 or above. Notably, Minh Tam Vu Tran attained an exceptional ATAR of 99.25 and was awarded the Magnus Medal and Nicholas Altman Book Prize. He went on to study a double degree in Civil Engineering and Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Adelaide.  STEM Focus: Approximately 65% of Blackfriars graduates have been accepted into STEM-related courses, reflecting the school’s strong emphasis on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education.

Sporting Excellence: The school has a rich sporting tradition. For instance, during the 49th Annual Secondary Swimming Carnival, student Noah Caton broke the U14 50m freestyle record with a time of 28.28 seconds.  Cultural and Community Engagement: Blackfriars emphasizes the development of well-rounded individuals through various cultural and community activities, fostering leadership and personal growth among students.
