On February 13, 1902, Boambee Public School opened as a temporary institution with 19 pupils. With 28 pupils enrolled by 1907, the school was formally recognised as a public institution.
Boambee has always been a distinct and exceptional neighbourhood. Boambee Public School has been the social and cultural centre of the neighbourhood as well as the primary educational institution since its founding. The public school has long been praised by the local community for its exceptional academic, athletic, and cultural credentials as well as—and perhaps most importantly—for its commitment to the upbringing and care of each individual student.

In 2024, Boambee Public School undertook a self-assessment using the School Excellence Framework and participated in an external validation process. This initiative aimed to evaluate the school’s performance across the domains of Learning, Teaching, and Leading, ensuring the delivery of high-quality educational opportunities.  Additionally, the school has been recognized for its commitment to Aboriginal education. The Nanga Mai Awards, organized by the Aboriginal Education and Communities Directorate, celebrate innovation and excellence in Aboriginal education within NSW public schools, and Boambee Public School’s involvement underscores its dedication to this cause.

Boambee Public School offers a range of extracurricular activities that contribute to students’ holistic development. For instance, the school’s sports team, the Boambee Bouncers, demonstrated commendable performance by winning three out of four games in a recent competition, highlighting the school’s emphasis on teamwork and physical education.  Furthermore, the school actively promotes student leadership through its Student Representative Council (SRC). SRC leaders participate in various initiatives, fostering a sense of responsibility and community engagement among students.
