School History & Details

The Branxton Public School formally began for operation in January 1863. The inaugural teacher, Mr. W. H. Johnson, was in charge of teaching the fifty-five boys and forty-three girls who lived in the area. The Branxton Medical Centre and the surrounding region mark the original location of the school. Originally, there was just one classroom and an adjacent teacher's apartment. Over time, the number of students attending the school varied, but the ancient school benefited from several upgrades, such as new classrooms, renovated teacher accommodations, new drains, and a new well. The area where Branxton Public School currently stands was acquired by the Education Department in 1955. The school relocated to the new location in 1986.
