British School Muscat (BSM) is a private, co-educational, not-for-profit day school in Muscat, Oman. It was founded in 1971 after Sultan Qaboos bin Said handed it a royal charter. BSM offers an all-encompassing education to English-speaking expatriate students aged 3–18 in Muscat, Oman. The school offers an enhanced version of the British National curriculum from key stage 1 to A-level. The British School is a nonprofit institution. As a result, the school has no owners or shareholders who profit from it. A Board of Governors oversees the operation of the school. The role that board members perform for British School Muscat is unpaid. Any surpluses are used to fund school development, and all tuition money goes into running the institution.
