Brook Hill School, an independent Christian day and boarding school for students in grades PreK-12, is located in Bullard, south of Tyler. Steve Dement launched the school in 1997, with thirty-one middle-school students. The boarding school opened shortly after, in 2003. Today, the school is located on 280 acres (110 ha) and serves approximately 760 students from East Texas and around the world, with 30 nationalities represented. Brook Hill also contains the American Freedom Museum, which houses items from every era of American history. The museum is open to the general public on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and tour groups of 15 or more on all other days except Sunday, when it is completely closed.
