Established in 1989 on the grounds of Brooke Priory, just outside of Oakham, by Mrs. Susan Allen and her daughter, Elizabeth Bell, the school began with twenty-seven students. With nearly 200 students enrolled, the school is thriving today. The curriculum and spirit of the school are still deeply rooted in the original enthusiasm for the outside world that inspired its founding. The kids still explore the world outside of the classroom today by making dens, getting dirty, and appreciating the stunning Rutland countryside!
Children learn how to be self-reflective, autonomous, and self-managers from Brooke Priory School. Individuals apply their knowledge and abilities to achieve greatness; the students flourish without sacrificing their moral principles or compassion. They offer a safe, loving, nurturing, and joyful atmosphere where a feeling of family permeates all they do at the school. Children attending Brooke Priory are expected to exhibit politeness, good manners, and a high degree of self-discipline. "To be the best we can be" is their "umbrella" value that applies to everyone in the school. From the outset, the kids are exposed to the School Values. The staff, parents, and students were consulted during their creation.
