The school commenced operations on February 9, 1999, with an initial enrolment of 25 students. It maintains a significant historical connection to the Gungahlin Anglican Church, established through an agreement between its founding Principal, Mr. Paul Browning, and the Church Rector at that time, Rev. Malcolm Richards. Over the years, the institution has expanded its facilities and has seen a substantial increase in student enrolment since its establishment. In 2009, Mr. Paul Browning retired from his position as principal of Burgmann, and Mr. Steven Bowers succeeded him.
