The institution offers support to students with disabilities from Preparatory to Year 12, situated on Nottingham Road, Calamvale, in the southern part of Brisbane within the Metropolitan Region of the Department of Education. Established in January 1985 with an initial enrollment of 45 students, the school has experienced consistent growth, evolving into one of the larger Special Schools in Brisbane. The student catchment area is extensive, encompassing regions such as Algester, Forestdale, Stretton, and Beaudesert. The school takes pride in being a Queensland State Special School, dedicated to delivering highly personalized learning experiences for students with complex educational needs within a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment.  All classrooms are equipped with air conditioning and interactive whiteboards to enhance the learning experience and encourage the integration of technology. The school boasts beautiful grounds and excellent facilities, including its own swimming pool. The primary objective is to foster student independence by providing a diverse learning environment that is rich in curriculum, challenging, safe, supportive, enjoyable, and engaging. The institution is committed to cultivating an atmosphere that promotes respect, independence, effective communication, and the development of high self-esteem.

Comprehensive Year 12 outcomes: In 2023, 100% of Year 12 students achieved a Queensland Certificate of Education or Certificate of Individual Achievement (QCIA), with several students earning VET credentials, including Certificates I and II . Strong student and staff engagement: 95%+ of staff report the school “looks for ways to improve,” and over 87% agree it provides opportunities for “interesting things,” indicating a positive improvement culture . Infrastructure growth: A multi-story learning centre is currently under construction to support a projected increase to ~150 students by 2026 .
