The establishment of the school took place in 1898, marking its centenary in 1998. The institution features an aesthetically pleasing combination of historical and modern architecture, offering outstanding facilities for both students and staff. The community takes great pride in the 'old Stratham' School building situated on the premises, which serves as a significant connection to the school's heritage. Financial support from the Commonwealth Government's Building the Education Revolution program has enabled the construction of four contemporary classrooms to replace those from the 1920s, as well as a specialized facility for Art, Science, and Music, along with additional resources that enhance existing amenities, ensuring that students at Capel PS receive optimal educational opportunities within a modern learning framework. Historically, Capel functioned as a small rural school catering to the local town and agricultural community. However, the advent of mineral sands mining in the 1960s brought about demographic changes, resulting in a growing student population. This trend has continued with the rise of viticulture, coastal development, rural subdivisions, and the expansion of the southwest region. The school now serves students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, with high attendance rates and a strong commitment from the community clearly observable. Capel Primary School is dedicated to ensuring that students acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes tailored to their individual needs, thereby creating opportunities for them to reach their full potential and become positive contributors to society. By engaging students through effective and contemporary teaching practices that emphasize social and emotional well-being, we aim to provide each student with the chance to achieve success and cultivate the skills and capabilities essential for lifelong learning.
