Caramel Adventist College was originally known as the Darling Range School when it was established in 1907. The school was created to offer educational opportunities to secondary students from Seventh-day Adventist families who would otherwise have had to travel to Avondale School in Cooranbong, located approximately 120 kilometers (75 miles) north of Sydney. Charles E Ashcroft, an early Seventh-day Adventist, generously donated land for the boarding school, which was located 27 kilometers (17 miles) east of Perth in the Heidelberg Valley (now Bickley Valley) in the Darling Range. The school officially opened on 13 January 1907 with H.R. Martin as the Principal and only two students. Over time, the number of students increased, reaching 14 by the end of the first year. Since its humble beginnings, the school has undergone significant changes, including the reconstruction of the main administrative classroom block in 1977. The College's estate expanded to 55 hectares (140 acres), with 9 hectares (22 acres) dedicated to orchards, primarily growing stone fruits and citrus. In 2007, the school celebrated its centenary and has since continued to make improvements to enhance its appearance and provide high-quality education to its students. These enhancements include the removal of most of the orchards to improve the valley view, the renovation of the library with new computers and facilities, as well as updates to academic and behavioral policies to support diverse learning and discipline approaches.
