Cedar Girls Secondary School is a government-run secondary school for girls in Singapore. When it first opened its doors in 1957, it only offered a four-year express course leading to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Ordinary Level examinations. It has partnered with Victoria Junior College since 2012 to offer a six-year integrated plan that permits pupils to proceed to Victoria for four years and six years to sit the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Advanced Level examinations at the end of six years. Cedar Girls' Secondary School opened its doors in 1957 with a class of 507 pupils. As a result of the government's decision to make all schools single-sex that year, the pioneer batch was made up of girls from the Bartley, Beatty, and Siglap schools. The school became well-known in the 1960s for its track and field success, as well as for producing notable national athletes. Athletic facilities were built on the school premises for S$250,000 in 1972. As a result, it became the first school in Singapore to have on-campus sports facilities. The school was one of the first 16 in Singapore to provide computer appreciation as an extra-curricular activity in 1981. As part of the curriculum modernization, the school was demolished and rebuilt between 1989 and 1994. The school became single-session in 1992 and autonomous in 1996. For its constant academic excellence, the school was designated as a band one school in 2004.
