School History & Details

There are 330 pupils enrolled at Charlestown East Public School, divided between 12 regular classes and 21 multicategorical classes. Thirteen Aboriginal students and seventeen students with a language background other than English make up the student body. The school was founded in 1959 and is situated on Charlestown's east side, which is bounded by Wales, James, and Bula Streets. The vast grounds have a mini netball court, basketball court, soccer field, climbing equipment, a vegetable garden, an interactive playground, a nature play area and an outdoor learning space. There are several regions of shade, both man-made and natural. Students with special needs can use the school's facilities.
