School History & Details

Since its founding as St. Leonard's Patterson River campus, Cornish College has a long history of providing unique educational opportunities, even if its official opening was not until 2012. For a new campus, the principal of St. Leonard's College, Richard Cornish, bought 114 acres next to the Patterson River in 1980. Cornish, a forward-thinking teacher, planned for it to be utilised for sports facilities, environmental, horticultural, and agricultural studies, as well as a feeder school for Prep–8 pupils who would go on to St Leonard's Brighton for Years 9–12. After several years of construction, St. Leonard's College, Patterson River, formally opened its doors in February 1987.
