Discovery Bay International School

The Cha family, the owners of Hong Kong Resorts International (HKRI), revealed their plans for an independent community on Lantau Island at the beginning of the 1980s. Recognizing that there would be a significant demand for high-quality international education, HKRI decided to establish a distinguished school to meet the needs of the Discovery Bay neighborhood.  January 1983 saw the opening of the school, one month after the neighborhood's initial residents moved in. By the beginning of the 1983–1984 school year, the number of students enrolled had climbed significantly. The school wonderfully reflected the close-knit, multi-cultural community that had developed around Discovery Bay by the mid-1990s. After taking over as Head of School in 2020, Mr. Stuart Bridge was responsible for our Secondary School's Sixth Form's growth and the school's record-breaking IGCSE and A Level scores. Notwithstanding the difficulties our community has faced as a result of COVID-19, the school has remained one of Hong Kong's leading international schools. With numerous exciting developments slated for our next phase of growth, the school keeps growing under the direction of Mr. Marc Morris, our new principal who started in 2023.
