School History & Details

With its first class of students enrolled in 1939, Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School became the third Agricultural High School to be founded in New South Wales. William James Farrer (1845–1906), a renowned agronomic and wheat breeder best known for creating the Federation's wheat breed, is honored by the school's name. Farrer gained notoriety for his scientific studies of the issues related to wheat cultivation, and his contributions significantly contributed to the future success of the Australian Wheat Industry. Since then, it has developed into a cutting-edge, vibrant day and boarding school for boys in grades 7 through 12.  Farrer is the only selective boys' agricultural high school in Australia, but despite this, it provides a comprehensive, career-focused curriculum that meets the demands of both the modern workplace and classroom.
