On October 1st, 1834, Forest Proprietary Grammar School began operations. The School underwent significant change over the subsequent 100 years, solidifying its position as one of London's top schools. A copy of the most recent issue of the school magazine was placed beneath the foundation stone of the lovely Grade II listed Memorial Dining Hall when it was constructed in 1886. One of the oldest school periodicals in the nation, The Forest School Magazine was first published in 1865. It is an interesting historical account of the endeavours and lives of the students, teachers, as well as the growth and advancement of the School itself. When females started attending Forest School at the end of the 1970s, the school had fully undergone metamorphosis. In honour of the Girls' School's opening, which ushered in a new era for Forest, HRH The Duchess of Kent paid a visit to the community in 1981.
Forest School is aware of its students and of itself. It fosters a distinct set of principles that serve as the cornerstone of the Forest culture and centres each individual kid at the focus of everything it does. The core values that are imbibed in the students are as follows:
Growth
Responsibility
Wellbeing
Learning
Hardwork
