The James family established Hampton Pre-Prep & Prep School (originally Denmead School) in 1924 in the dining room at 41 Wensleydale Road. The School's population and reputation grew over time, necessitating an expansion. The Gloucester Road site was also purchased for a purpose-built school building, in addition to the three houses in Wensleydale Road that were already purchased to handle the increase in student enrollment. 1999 saw the School's merger with the local, highly selective boys' school, Hampton School, which was well-known across the country. Although they run separately on a daily basis, the two schools continue to have close ties. Denmead became Hampton Pre-Prep & Prep School in February 2016.
The primary goal of Hampton Pre-Prep & Prep School is to offer a top-notch education in every aspect. During their time with the school they want their students to make outstanding growth that culminates in outstanding accomplishments. They want their transfer to their senior school to go smoothly. They strive to create and maintain the environments where both effort and success can be honoured because they appreciate both equally.
