School History & Details

Herlufsholm is a school with a vibrant past, founded on strong Danish humanistic ideals. The school was established on May 23, 1565, as a school for the sons of nobles and other trustworthy individuals. The school would accept not only nobility children but also ordinary youngsters interested in learning and education. Herlufsholm now offers pupils ranging from sixth grade to the third year of high school. Students travel from all around Denmark, including abroad, to pursue a strong education at Herlufsholm. They have day students and boarders but in relatively small courses with a focus on a quiet environment and strong academic standards and well-being for the students.
