It is a public, coeducational high school located that is part of the Richmond's School District 38.The only school in Richmond that offers the Middle Years Programme for the International Baccalaureate is Hugh Boyd Secondary School. Hugh Boyd Secondary was first established in 1960 as a junior secondary school for students in Grades 8 to 10, and after growing in 1996, it became a senior secondary school for students in Grades 8 through 12. Each year, it has between 650 and 700 students enrolled, the majority of whom are from the Seafair neighbourhood nearby.
