A small group of parents united by a common aim about 40 years ago in a lovely, green neighborhood of Hong Kong. They desired to establish a school in the center of their expansive, green neighborhood, far from the noise and throng of the metropolis.
A reputable educational institution has one of the first Chinese language programs in the area, excellent faculty, and a strong academic program.
Hong Lok Yuen International School came into being as a result of their enthusiasm and commitment.
By 2003, there were talks about opening a new school due to a lack of secondary school spots. Eight children enrolled in a Year 7 class at Hong Lok Yuen began instruction in 2005. The location of the former Sha Tau Kok Government Secondary School was given to the school in November 2008. JIS and KIS partnered together, and the three elementary schools contributed the funding needed to establish ICHK. Its goal was to offer a secondary destination that, in terms of feel and philosophy, aligned with the goals of its primary feeders: it ought to be modest, student-centered, and community-focused.
Following a significant refurbishment campaign, the four main buildings of the school were updated in preparation for ICHK's 2009 reopening.
The school's concept is based on the belief that children and adolescents should be helped to develop their whole selves, which includes, but is not limited to, their academic selves, for them to perceive themselves as strong, self-assured, and passionate learners.
