Mr. Subrata Roy Sahara and Mr. Seemanto Roy first envisioned the idea of an Aamby Valley City school in March 2006, but the actual academic groundwork was laid in 2008 when the school was granted permission to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) IGCSE program. On September 15, 2008, ISA formally opened its doors, marking the completion of this significant phase. With 48 pupils (in Standards 3 to 11) and 24 teaching professionals, the student-teacher ratio was a tidy 2:1 at the time. In the second year of studies, this number rose to 54 pupils. Our student body is anticipated to keep growing until 2014–15, when capacity is reached. The first IBDP (Standard 12) cohort of 2009–10 to graduate was a very proud moment in history. Seeing that our first cohort of students passed the IBDP with a 98% pass rate and were accepted into some of the most prominent universities in the world was especially encouraging. In addition to our positive initial set of CIE IGCSE scores from Standard 10, the student performance exceeded our own projections. From that point on, a strict academic standard was established, and we have kept up with global standards while also improving our academic programs.
