International School of Milan

The International School of Milan (ISM) is an international IB World School located in northern Milan, Italy. The school was the first in Italy to provide all three International Baccalaureate programs (Primary Years, Middle Years, and Diploma) to students aged 2-19. The International School of Milan is one of the largest and oldest of the Inspired Group's International Schools in Italy, along with Monza, Modena, Siena, and Bergamo, however, the organization's global network includes many more schools. The Inspired Group also acquired the St. Louis School of Milan in 2018, expanding its Milanese network. The Group has a partner school in Aliso Viejo, California. In addition, the school is a member of several international school organizations and networks. The school is Milan's largest and oldest international curriculum school, and its graduates attend institutions in the United Kingdom, the United States, Italy, and around the world. Founded in 1958, the school first taught British O Levels/GCSE and A Levels. The International Baccalaureate was gradually embraced as the primary curriculum once the Italian government recognized the IB as equivalent to the Maturità (the Italian equivalent of A Levels) in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The British curriculum is no longer taught, and ISM is only an IB World School. In September 2013, the school established a brand-new purpose-built campus in Baranzate, northwest of Milan, which brought together the Primary, Middle, and High School portions of the school.
