The school was named after the Scottish Isle of Iona and was established on September 11, 1907. In the 1900s, five Presentation Sisters from Kildare, Ireland, came to Western Australia in response to a call. In the true spirit of Nano Nagle, the Presentation Sisters have carried on their work across Western Australia, offering support, guidance, and other services to the underprivileged. The Archbishop of Perth assumed leadership of Iona Presentation College in 2017 after the Presentation Sisters did. Preserving the legacy, charism, and narrative of the Presentation Sisters which elevated Iona from its modest origins to become a highly sought-after Pre-K to Year 12 educational institution remains a top concern for both the Archdiocese and the College.
Iona Presentation College pushes and supports students to become thoughtful, purposeful, brave young people who change the world. They are inspired by the life of Venerable Nano Nagle and the Gospel of Jesus. An Iona education is based on six Iona values. A value is selected as the year's focal point. By the time students graduate from Year 12, they have fully experienced and applied each value.
