Kerem School was founded as a result of the determination and vision of one man, Stanley Frankfurt (1917–1997), whose name will always be associated with the institution. He understood the importance of a Jewish education for the future, and it was because his persistence and influence that the Hampstead Garden Suburb Jewish Kindergarten, which would later become Kerem House and, more recently, Kerem EYU, was established in 1948 in the space formerly used by the Hampstead Garden Suburb Synagogue. The institution has educated hundreds of students over the past 72 years, many of whom have had significant success in both their professional fields and the larger Jewish society. Today the schools serves students who value a thorough, interesting, and intensive secular education as well as a Jewish education in a nurturing, organised, and purposeful setting.
At Kerem School, they hold all of their students to the greatest standards, both academically (our students routinely perform well beyond national benchmarks) and socially. They provide a strong emphasis on their personal, social, and emotional development by encouraging considerate behaviours, respect for others, self-control, and self-assurance. The youngsters are inspired to think creatively and independently, to take on responsibilities, and to develop their leadership skills. Kerem School characteristics, which they believe encourage and improve children's learning and personal development, are at the core of everything they do. Collaboration, curiosity, mental flexibility, humour, initiative, middot, persistence, reflectiveness, resilience, and risk-taking are some of these traits.
