When KIIT was founded in 1992, it had just two employees and twelve students as a vocational training facility. However, it wasn't until the start of the degree engineering program in 1997 that it began to take shape as an institution. Prof. Achyuta Samanta, the institution's founder, had a vision to establish KIIT for the betterment of society despite having no land, little money (only Rs. 5000/-), and no experience in higher education. Since its modest origins, KIIT has grown to become a prestigious university with a strong multidisciplinary culture and a dedication to providing top-notch instruction.
