King's Ely Junior was established in the year 1970. It is at the forefront of national educational conversation despite its age of more than a thousand years, particularly in the last ten years. While the school value their past, schools are about students' todays and tomorrows, so while they draw from the past, they also look to the future. Today, King's Ely Junior is a thriving neighbourhood with all the amenities a school in the twenty-first century should have, plus a lot more. The school now enrols close to 1,000 students, representing all major world religions and no major religion at all. King's Ely became co-ed in 1970, and Queen Elizabeth II visited the institution in 1973 to establish the first Queen's Scholars.
King's Ely Junior were founded to teach choristers, and today, they have two cathedral choirs—one for junior boys and one for senior girls—as well as choral scholars of both sexes in the sixth form. That just tells a small portion of the tale, and at King's Ely, they consider learning to be an adventure. All students are encouraged to take risks in their education, pushing themselves past their comfort zones and learning more about the world around them as well as themselves in the process. Their commitment to fostering a genuine love of learning in the children in their care and their conviction that every student can succeed when their preferred learning style is properly utilised set them apart from other organisations.
