Established in 1669, Kings Hospital School Dublin is a private Irish boarding school that has been running effectively for almost 300 years, making it one of the country's oldest establishments.
At first, under King Charles II, the corporation was a hospital and ran as a non-profit school. In 1669, the school was located on Queen Street in Dublin, and in 1783, it moved to Blackhall Place, where the Irish Lawyers' Association currently operates. The school relocated between 1957–1966 to the Brooklyn (Palmerston) suburbs of Dublin because the institution had acquired two additional smaller schools. At the same time, a mixed education model was implemented, allowing girls to pursue coursework on par with that of young men.
