School History & Details

King's Worcester is a school for the modern and the future, providing its students with the intellectual and interpersonal tools necessary for success in the classroom and in life. It is a vibrant, dynamic learning environment. The school was one of the seven "King's Schools" that Henry VIII reestablished or funded after the dissolution. On December 7, 1541, John Pether was named as the school's first headmaster. The school started admitting girls in small batches to the sixth form in 1971. College House was built in 1977 and could accommodate twenty-one girls. The school was decided to be completely coeducational in 1989, and in 1991, females were allowed to enrol in the Lower Fourth (Year 7). Since its founding, boarders have been housed there; the last boarders departed in July 1999.

The students perform exceptionally well on public exams. The students thrive in a supportive, dynamic, and multicultural setting that values integration and respect for one another. Their small class sizes, highly skilled and enthusiastic teachers, as well as their efforts to provide students with many challenges and opportunities to excel, all contribute to the excellent outcomes they attain. In 2022, 73% of I/GCSE entrants received a score of 9–7 (or higher), while 30% received an A* or 9. Excellent results were seen in the creative courses; 94% of students in Art and 88% of students in DT received grades of 9–7.
