Konini School is a co-educational state public primary school in New Zealand's West Auckland suburb of Konini. The school, which was founded in 1976, serves kids in grades 1-6 and has an enrollment zone in place. The school is located in the Waitere Ranges foothills on an 8.5-hectare property that includes a forest reserve, a creek, and a waterfall with glow worm rock sides. This has resulted in onsite learning experiences for students, which have impacted the curriculum and culminated in environmental projects. To support these initiatives and expand amenities and facilities, the school has worked with the local community and Auckland Council. The school began on May 24, 1976, on what was once a farm known as Pinehurst, which was held by Walter Jowitt until he died in 1953. The land was once an orchard, with multiple paddocks for dairy cows, pine tree shelter belts, and a macrocarpa that still stands on the site and is known as the "story tree." When the school opened, it had fewer students than expected, owing to delays in the development of a nearby housing estate, the school's opening being in the middle of the year, and concerns about the 'open plan' design of the school.
