Kuwait National English School was inaugurated in 1991 in Surra, a residential area, and subsequently moved in September 1995 to more spacious buildings in central Hawally, which have been completely restored with all equipment. On June 10, 1995, Her Majesty's Ambassador to Kuwait at the time, His Excellency, Sir. William H. Fullerton officially opened the new premises. It is a private co-educational non-profit institution that provides lessons ranging from Charlotte Pre-School through university entry with IGCSE, GCSE, GCE, IAS, and IAL. Kuwait National English School follows the UK's New National Curriculum and has been a UK-approved examination center since 1996. KNES, the only British School in Kuwait that is a member of the Associated Schools Projects UNESCO, takes great pride in its affiliation. In May 1998, the school was honored to host Mr. Symonides, Director of the Division of Human Rights, Democracy, and Peace at UNESCO Paris, who visited for two days. KNES actively taught Human Rights during his visit, aligning with the United Nations' World Decade for Human Rights Education (1995-2004). This special occasion was marked by KNES on 24 May 1998 as they celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This memorable event holds significant importance in the school's history.
