With a gift from Lady Eleanor Holles, daughter of John Holles, 2nd Earl of Clare, the school was established in 1710. A plaque on one of the Barbican pathways honours the original location. The middle school relocated to a new location in 1878, at 182 Mare Street in East Hackney. This new location is currently a part of the London College of Fashion and was subsequently held by the Cordwainers Company. The school relocated to its current location in Hampton in 1937. Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester, officially opened the first buildings in Hampton, which were designed by Colonel F. S. Hammond, whose father had also designed the Hackney school. The school held a Thanksgiving ceremony to commemorate its 300th anniversary.
Lady Eleanor Holles goal is to make LEH a school that fosters outstanding women and offers opportunity, challenge, and camaraderie. It is a place to take chances and grow brave, as well as a place to find your passions and abilities. The integrity of single-sex education for all pupils is valued by Lady Eleanor Holles and Hampton School, along with all the benefits that follow, such as the ability to specialise and concentrate on learning styles, emotional, psychological, and pastoral education. The school motivates the students to become the greatest, most confident versions of themselves as learners and as global citizens. They urge students to take advantage of the kindness, respect, and encouragement of the entire School community.
