Langley School, located in McLean, Virginia, has a rich history dating back to 1941 when two visionary parents, Persis Lane, and Judith Glaser, had a radical idea to create a school for children aged three through six. It started as the McLean Playschool in the basement of the Franklin Sherman School, welcoming only 19 children on its first day on September 22, 1942. However, despite its humble beginnings, Langley School's commitment to providing quality education to its students remained unwavering. The school was incorporated as a nonprofit cooperative association in 1945 and adopted its first set of bylaws. Today, Langley School has over 500 students from preschool to eighth grade, learning, playing, and growing on a beautiful campus in McLean. Langley School's commitment to its community has remained unchanged over the years. The school has always emphasized a collaborative effort and shared responsibility as it believes that this fosters a strong community that enhances its program's quality. The focus on childhood is also evident in Langley School's curriculum as it strives to foster students' intellectual prowess and emotional acuity, ensuring that every student is ready to take on the challenges of young adulthood. Throughout its history, Langley School has proved itself to be a pioneer in providing quality education to children. The dedication and vision of its founding parents and the passion and commitment of its current community are a testament to its success and continued excellence.
