In 1624, Edward Latymer established Latymer Upper School. Mrs. Wiggans served as the Prep School's first Head when it opened in 1951 on the ground floor of Rivercourt House. 1A and 1B were the two classes. The Prep playground was expanded when the Great West Road was built across Latymer's playground in 1956. The tunnel beneath the dual highway was erected at the same time. The size of the Prep had doubled by 1963. In years 3 and 4, the Prep became co-ed, and in 2010, Latymer gave the first Latymer Foundation scholarship to a Prep student. Approximately 175 students attend the school today.
The learning environment at Latymer Prep School is encouraging and emphasises the limitless potential of every student to advance and succeed. The goal of the school is to encourage a love of life and study. To help the students reach the greatest academic standards, discover self-fulfillment, and be happy, they provide them with the support, direction, and encouragement they need. They aspire to be an emotionally aware school that fosters social responsibility in their students and values and celebrates diversity in social, cultural, and religious beliefs.
The main school building, constructed in 1805, at the Latymer Prep School Campus has a variety of classrooms as well as a stunning spiral staircase that goes the entire height of the structure! Throug...View moreView Less
