The Sisters of Christian Religion, who had started a school on Wainalong Road in 1911, ran the first institution on their property when they built Leehurst Convent School in 1914. When the Sisters of La Retraite took control of it in 1953, it became La Retraite. The Swan School for Boys, a prep school Miss Swanton established in 1933 for boys ages 4 to 11, joined it in 1996. In 1988, the school was founded as an Independent Charitable Trust. In order to honour the legacy of its forebears, the school was granted the name Leehurst Swan in 2007.
At Leehurst Swan School, they want every student to have the opportunity to grow into a future leader and improve the lives of those around them. They want each student to be the following when they graduate from the school:
Compassionate
Curious
Courageous
