The history of Lincoln Minster School dates all the way back to 1265 when the Bishop of Lincoln, Richard of Gravesend, made a groundbreaking decree. He established a house for twelve boys, two of whom were tasked with the special role of incense bearers. Under the guidance of a master, these boys received not only lessons but also fulfilled their choral duties. However, even before the Bishop's decree, young boys in the Cathedral Close were already learning music. Fast forward centuries later, in 1996, Lincoln Minster School was formed by the amalgamation of four schools. These were the Cathedral School for Choristers, St Joseph's School for Girls, Stonefield House School, and the St Mary's Preparatory School. This unification created a vibrant, modern, and inclusive learning environment that nurtured excellence and diversity. Today, Lincoln Minster School is known for providing exceptional education that fosters character, resilience, and the pursuit of academic excellence. Its history, rich with tradition, has paved the way for a future of growth and innovation.
