The spirit and qualities of Loyola Preparatory School are founded on Ignatian education. For over a century, boys have been educated at Loyola Preparatory School. The school has been at Buckhurst Hill since 1950, although its roots go back to St. Ignatius College, which was established in Stamford Hill in 1894. In 1900, Loyola was initially established as this college's preparatory department.
